Pursuing stream-of-consciousness photojournalism was a free-flowing, instinctive path for Ghost Lenz (Billy Riesing). After publishing his first magazine at the age of 14, he began shooting photography professionally in the magazine industry in 2000. His subjects varied but a hunger for visual storytelling lead him to favor musician interviews, alternative/extreme sports photojournalism, athlete profiles and narrative travel documentaries. Initially a staff photographer, writer and editor for the Philadelphia magazine titled "Faction" he found freelance work as a way to expand his opportunity and audience. From 2003, much of his work added to the feel and flavor of "Ride UK," a magazine headquartered in Dorchester England and distributed in 28 countries.
Significant assignments and magazine work to date include:
- Photo shoots and interviews with hip-hop artists Ghost Face Killah and Cappadonna of the Wu-Tang Clan
- The internationally acclaimed alt-country band Lucero
- The legendary hardcore band Bad Brains.
- 16 page interview with Dave Mirra, BMX's biggest star athlete
"Photography plugs me into the combustible jazz of the human condition."
